Installation of Electrical Transformers at Garments Enclave

The MSME Project provided funding and technical support to procure and install five (5) electrical transformers at the Garment Manufacturers Enclave at Adjabeng in Accra.

To support the Garments Industry, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) allocated the warehouses of the former GNTC – located at Adjabeng, Accra – to some nine major Garment Manufacturers. Upon assuming occupancy of the structures, the manufacturers discovered that the supply of electricity to the enclave was so erratic and unstable that they could not do any meaningful work.

MOTI, through the MSME Project, have procured five (5) electrical transformers to improve the supply of electricity to the enclave. The transformers were delivered to the site in October 2011, and were installed by the end of November 2011.
It is hoped that this would enable the Garment Manufacturers within the enclave to reach peak production in the near future.
